Share Your Garden!

Gardens Buffalo Niagara believes that sharing gardens helps build more vibrant and beautiful communities—and you’re invited to be part of Open Gardens!

Your garden doesn’t need to rival Versailles or Longwood, but it should reflect the care of an enthusiastic gardener. To participate, please submit an application using the form below. Our team will review submissions and reach out in August to schedule a visit and discuss details. During this process, a committee of 2 to 4 members will visit your garden and provide feedback. Please note, the application period for 2026 has closed. All applications will be considered for 2027.

Suggested Criteria

Gardens will be evaluated based on the following areas:

  • Beauty, Inspiration, & Design: Does the garden inspire visitors or offer something unique, such as interesting plants, DIY projects, or creative design features?

  • Educational Value: Does it offer an opportunity to learn, through unusual plants, gardening tips, or creative care techniques?

  • Environmental Consideration: Does it include native plants, pollinator habitats, or sustainable design elements?

No garden is expected to meet all these criteria. One or two is more than enough. Each garden is special and reflects the individuality of its gardener.

Mandatory Requirements

All participating gardens must provide:

  • Safe parking for visitors

  • Safe terrain and pathways

  • At least 20 minutes of visitor interest

Timeline to Join 2027

  • Application Deadline: Submit your application for a garden visit by August 1, 2026

  • Site Visits: Our team will conduct site visits during August.

  • Garden Descriptions and Photos: Need to be submitted through an online form (a link will be provided if your garden is to be on the tour) in September.

  • Availability: Printed guides will be available starting mid-March at Plantasia and through the GBN online shop.

  • Distribution: Guides will be distributed to garden centers and shops in May.

  • Event Dates: Open Gardens takes place on Thursdays and Fridays in July, with specific dates adjusted based on when the Fourth of July falls.
